With a background in non-profit development, Matt has provided oversight in the creation and development of Palmetto Medical Initiative. His passion for the growing needs of the developing world guide his leadership of the organization and provide a clear focus on the people who are cared for through the work. Matt is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration with International Focus from the Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina.

Michael O’Neal

With a background in construction development, Michael has always possessed a passion for the most destitute people of the world. Following a two year project in Costa Rica with Young Life, Michael returned to Charleston where he oversaw operations for a construction company. Michael is currently living in Masindi, Uganda with his wife Amanda and providing oversight for the medical center project there. Additionally, he is pursuing a Masters Degree in International Development from Eastern University.

Marianne Carpenter

Following graduation from College of Charleston, Marianne began a career in political fundraising and event planning in Washington, D.C. In 2008, Marianne participated in a mission trip to Zambia where she realized her passion for serving those in need across the globe. In 2009, Marianne began pursuing that passion by joining the team at Palmetto Medical Initiative and has since received her Master of Public Administration degree from College of Charleston.

Dr. Edward O’Bryan

Throughout his career, Ed has participated in and led multiple medical mission trips to Africa, Central and South America. Now an attending physician at VAMC/MUSC, he is dedicated to providing medical professionals and students access to the life-changing experiences of global medical missions.

Michael Overcash, PA-C, MS

While serving as the Seacoast Church Medical Mission Director, Michael has led hundreds of medical providers on dozens of medical missions across the globe. Also a member of the Clinical Faculty in the MUSC Physician Assistant Program, Michael has dedicated his life to reaching out to those in need while educating healthcare professionals in the field of Dermatology.

Dr. Joshua Farrar
Ear Nose and Throat
Medical University of South Carolina
While completing his surgical training at MUSC, Josh has made a commitment to serving the peoples of developing nations through facial reconstructive surgeries. Currently, Josh is pursuing a Pediatric ENT fellowship, which will allow him to perform cleft lip and palate repairs in children who are desperately needing a highly-specialized surgical correction.

Harold “Son” Trask

As an accomplished attorney Son has been practicing law in South Carolina for more than 25 years. He has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America since 1995 and awarded the South Carolina Order of the Palmetto, the highest award that can be bestowed upon a civilian by the state. Son has a true passion for impoverished people around the world which has led to his extensive involvement in the Lamb Institute in Honduras and other organizations assisting those in need.

As Rector of St. Andrews Church in Charleston, South Carolina, Steve oversees one of the fastest growing churches in the state. St. Andrews is focused on outreach in the local community as well as abroad and is currently involved in supporting the Masindi Diocese in Uganda.
